Our puppies have 2 play pens in our home, approximately 10x10 in size. The first pen they are introduced to is situated in our walkout basement where our home office is. This is a quiet space they can learn to walk, play, and watch TV. The puppies are NOT alone in this space, and have a person working or watching TV with them.
The second play pen is near our kitchen, where they are introduced to cooking sounds, people coming in and out of the front door, and the adult dogs visiting through the gate. This is a busy space, and is used when the puppies are 5 weeks +.
Outdoor play spaces vary depending on the weather and season. 2 outdoor play areas are safe for all seasons, and puppies are monitored easily by someone sitting right inside the house, or outside with them. These 2 pens are separate from our yard. Our yard is HUGE, and is not safe for puppies to be alone as we have large birds of prey who live nearby. When puppies are older, closer to 6.5 weeks old, they are introduced to the yard where there is TONS of exploring to do. We do nature 'walks' with the puppies and allow them to freely explore all nooks and crannies of the yard. The adult dogs love to show them the most fun spots, one area is known as the Secret Club House and all the dogs gravitate towards this fun spot.
We do have a pool that is open during the summer, so the puppies are never unattended in the yard and are watched around the pool very carefully.
Puppies are handled, loved, and nurtured in a home/family environment.
Puppies are well socialized, and experience many different activities including a shallow puppy pool in summer months, playing in grass, mulch, rocks, and concrete.
We encourage puppies to potty on the mulch for easy cleanup, and to learn to potty in a certain place.
Puppies are socialized with their litter mates, and adult dogs.
Puppies are handled by our family and friends to ensure they are well socialized.
Puppy temperament is evaluated to ensure the best placement with the forever family.
Puppies are introduced to crate training and walking on a leash.
Puppies are dewormed, microchipped, and have had their first shots.
